Rewind, the effective technique for Fears, Phobias and Trauma

If you're looking for a fast and effective way to get rid of your phobia, fears or trauma look no further than the rewind technique or Visual Kinesthetic Dissociation technique (VKD). This simple strategy can help you conquer your fears in just a few short sessions. So what is the rewind technique.

The rewind technique is a key component of NLP, or Neuro-Linguistic Programming. The aim of the technique is to help a person dissociate themselves from a memory or an experience that is causing them distress. By dissociating from the memory, the individual is able to view it in a more objective way, which can help to lessen the emotional intensity of the experience. The technique involves imaginarily stepping outside of oneself and observing the memory as if it were happening to someone else. This can be done by picturing oneself watching the memory on a Cinema screen, or by imagining that one is looking down at oneself from above. By adopting this detached perspective, it can be easier to process and make sense of the memory, which can help to reduce its negative impact.

It works by helping you to relive the experience of your fear in your mind, but this time with a positive outcome. For example, if you are afraid of public speaking, you would imagine yourself speaking in front of a large audience without feeling nervous or scared. As you imagine the positive experience, you would also rehearse what you would say and how you would say it. The rewind technique can be used for any fear or phobia, or traumatic event and it is often used in combination with other techniques, such as hypnotherapy.

It is a great way of reframing a memory or event so that it no longer has the same emotional charge. The process of the Rewind Technique goes like this; you first need to identify a memory that is causing you distress. Once you have identified the memory, you close your eyes and imagine rewinding the event like a movie. As you replay the event in your mind, noticing how your body feels. Once you reach the end of the event, imagine pressing "pause" and stepping out of the memory. Then, imagine fast-forwarding through the event until you reach the end. When you reach the end, imagine rewinding the event again, this time noticing how your body feels different. The goal of the Rewind Technique is to change your relationship to the memory so that it no longer has the same emotional charge. By changing your perspective on the memory, you can change how you feel about it.

This technique is a powerful tool for change that can be used in a variety of situations. By reliving a past experience in your mind and then changing the outcome, you can release yourself from the emotions and patterns that are associated with that experience. This can be especially helpful if you have experienced a traumatic event or if you find yourself stuck in negative thinking patterns. The rewind technique can help you to break free from these patterns and create a new, more positive future for yourself.

Phobias can be disabling, interfering with our work, social life and enjoyment of activities we used to love. When faced with things we're afraid of, our primitive 'fight or flight' mechanism is triggered, preparing us to either confront the threat or run away from it. This can lead to symptoms such as a racing heart, sweating and shaking, which can make the experience even more terrifying. Essentially, you imagine going back to the start of the situation that triggers your fear and then replay it in your mind, choosing to respond in a different way. For example, if you have a fear of spiders, you would imagine yourself coming across a spider and instead of running away or killing it, you would calmly pick it up and put it outside. By doing this repeatedly, you 'rewire' your brain to respond differently to the trigger and eventually the fear will dissipate. This same process can be used to also release trauma.

Another great way to use this technique is to overcome nerves when public speaking. It involves picturing yourself giving the speech or presentation perfectly, from start to finish. Then, once you have the image in your mind, "rewind" it and play it back again, this time adding in any positive visualizations or affirmations that will help you feel more confident. For example, you might picture yourself nailing the opening joke, or receiving a round of applause at the end. The key is to really focus on the positive feelings that you want to experience, and to truly believe that you can achieve them. With a little practice, the rewind technique can help you tap into your inner confidence and give your best performance yet.

So if you are looking for a way to overcome your fear, phobia or trauma, the VKD rewind technique may be just what you need. This technique has been shown to be highly effective in helping people to overcome their fears and phobias quickly and easily. Not only will it help you get over your fears, but it can also help improve your overall quality of life.
